As noted by All Things D that day, Carol Bartz confirmed the news and even sent an email to the entire Yahoo! staff right on the day that was terminated from her post, with the subject title, ‘Goodbye’.

“I am very sad to tell you that I’ve just been fired over the phone by Yahoo’s Chairman of the Board.” Carol Bartz wrote on the email, in which a copy was obtained by All Things D.

“It has been my pleasure to work with all of you and I wish you only the best going forward.” Bartz added, who was named as Yahoo CEO on January 13, 2009.

Bartz, 63, was said to be on a plane to the East Coast while Yahoo! chairman Roy Bostock was coming to West, which means there was no way the two could meet in person that day before she was fired.

On the other hand, Yahoo also released a statement on Bartz‘ termination saying the the Board of Directors has appointed Timothy Morse interim CEO effective immediately, replacing Carol Bartz.

“The Board sees enormous growth opportunities on which Yahoo! can capitalize, and our primary objective is to leverage the company’s leadership and current business assets and platforms to execute against these opportunities.” Yahoo! Chairman of the Board Roy Bostock was quoted on the press release.

“On behalf of the entire Board, I want to thank Carol for her service to Yahoo! during a critical time of transition in the Company’s history, and against a very challenging macro-economic backdrop.” Bostock added.
