The world’s tallest man Sultan Kosen married Merve Dibo in Southern Turkey on Sunday, October 27, 2013.

Kosen, 31-year-old native of Ankara, was awarded as the Guinness World’s Tallest Man in 2011.

Standing at 8 feet and 3 inches, Kosen is 2 feet and 7 inches taller than his wife. Dibo’s height is reportedly
5 feet and 8 inches. The unusual height of Kosen is brought about by a rare disorder called pituitary gigantism that enables his body to continuously produce growth hormones.

According to reports, the national average height of people in Turkey is approximately 5 feet and 1 inch.

Kosen‘s hand and feet, measuring about 27.5 cm and 36.5 cm respectively, were also world record values based on the Guinness Book.

In a statement, Kosen said that “It was unfortunate that I could not find a suitable girl of my own size. But now I will have my own family and private life.”

Reports say that the world’s tallest man is one of only ten people ever to go over 8 feet. According to Guinness World Record Kosen took the title from Xi Shun of China who was measured in 2005 at 2.361 m (7 ft 8.95 in) in height.
