The list of the world’s tallest building now includes One World Trade Center Freedom Tower, according to reports by several international news sites on Monday, April 30, 2012. One World Trade Center Freedom Tower is reportedly the tallest building in New York City.

Reports say that on Monday, workers set a steel beam that made the building stood at 1,250 feet high. The Freedom Tower is reportedly taller than the 1,250-feet high Empire State Building.

Burj Khalifa in Dubai is the world’s tallest building at 2,717 feet high.

The tallest building in New York City may end up as the third world’s tallest building when it’s finished. By then, Freedom Tower will be standing at 1,776 feet. The total measurement will include a 408-feet needle that is still being debated if it will be a spire or antenna.

The height of Freedom Tower symbolizes the signing of the US Declaration of Independence in the year 1776.
