As noted at British news sites that day, the new world’s longest wedding gown was worn by 17-year-old model Ema Dumitrescu, who rode on a hot air balloon in a main boulevard in Bucharest, Romania‘s capital.

According to Telegraph, the record-breaking wedding gown, which took 100 days, was crafted by a team of 10 seamstresses, was designed by Andree Salon fashion house and the organizers of this year’s biannual Wedding Fair.

Based on the report, around 4,700 meters of taffeta, 5.5 meters of Chantilly lace, 45 meters of lining, 1,857 sewing needles and 150 spool threads were used to create this new record-holder wedding gown.

Meanwhile, Lavinia Lascae, a spokeswoman was quoted at Daily Mail saying that the lace was imported from France, while taffeta and other fabrics were purchased from Italy, costing several thousand pounds.

Apparently, the new Guinness World Records holder beat the previous record of 2,488 meters held by a Dutch designer, which coincided with the issue of the Netherlands opposing the entrance of Romanians in their country.

“If the Netherlands does not allow us into Europe, we’ll take them out of the world records book.” Alin Caraman, an organizer of the Wedding Fair, was quoted as saying.
