A woolly mammoth which was said to be extinct for about four millennia was allegedly caught in a video by a government-employed engineer last summer, The Sun reported on February 8, 2012.

The video footage shows a dark, blurry creature crossing a river in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug region of Siberia. Reports said that the government official was in the area surveying for a planned road when he captured the video which stirred up plenty of interest on the Web.

Many viewers are divided on the nature of the animal seen in the video. Some viewers said that it is an elephant while others speculated it was just a bear carrying a large fish on its mouth.
