The Artist,” the black and white film, won Best Film, and Best Director for Michel Hazanavicius in the New York Film Critics Circle 2011. Brad Pitt won Best Actor and Meryl Streep, Best Actress, as reported by several entertainment sites, November 29, 2011.

The Artist” is a romance movie that stars Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo. Aside from being a black and white film, it is also a silent movie.

Brad Pitt won for his portrayal in “Moneyball” and “Tree of Life, while Meryl Streep won for “The Iron Lady.” The following is the list of winners:

2011 Special Award: Raoul Ruiz (posthumous)

Best director: Michel Hazanavicius, “The Artist

Best actor: Brad Pitt (“Moneyball,” “Tree of Life”)

Best supporting actor: Albert Brooks (“Drive”)

Best supporting actress: Jessica Chastain (“The Tree of Life,” “The Help” and “Take Shelter”)
