The 42nd Image Awards is an annual event that celebrates and honors colored people for their outstanding achievements in the field of television, recording, motion picture and writing and directing, and literature.

This year’s event was hosted by Wayne Brady and Holly Robinson Peete, wherein Halle Berry, Denzel Washington and Willow Smith were the big winners.

“If it were not for the NAACP, a little girl like me would not have had wind beneath her wings in a small town in Ohio,” Halle Berry said, while accepting the trophy for the Best Outstanding Actress for her multiple role in the film ‘Frankie and Alice’.

Willow Smith, who is now in Europe concert tour with teen superstar Justin Bieber, won the Outstanding New Artist award, while Denzel Washington won the Outstanding Actor for the movie ‘The Book of Eli’.

Meanwhile, the film ‘For Colored Girls’ won three awards including outstanding motion picture, outstanding director for Tyler Perry, and a supporting actress awards for Kimberly Elise.
