A Wi-Fi usage survey was conducted by the Wakefield Research for the Wi-Fi Alliance in Buffalo, New York, according to several international news sites.

The survey results showed that 32 percent of the respondents admitted that they tried to access Wi-Fi networks that they do not own.

Wakefield found during the same study that about 40 percent of Wi-Fi users would likely share their house key to someone rather than giving out their Wi-Fi network password.

A Wi-Fi Alliance report says that there are about 201 million households worldwide who are using Wi-Fi networks.

According to its official website, Wi-Fi Alliance is a global non-profit organization with the goal of driving adoption of a single worldwide standard for high-speed wireless local area networking.
