According to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday night, Amber Riley‘s cover of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You for Glee was recorded even before the 48-year old singer passed away.

Apparently, that Glee episode is being noted to be an odd coincidence three day after Whitney Houston was found unresponsive inside her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at 3:55 p.m. (LA time) and was later pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, Mercedes (played by Amber Riley in Glee) sang “I Will Always Love You” in an emotional scene where she chose to be single instead of choosing either her ex-boyfriend Sam or her current, Shane.

Nevertheless, Glee producers decided to add a special feature at the end of that Valentine’s Day episode, with a card saying, “Whitney Houston 1963-2012. We will always love you” when it aired at Fox.

The song “I Will Always Love You” was originally written and performed by Dolly Parton back in 1974, and was covered by Whitney Houston for her 1992 movie “The Bodyguard“, which was a blockbuster hit and Houston received numerous awards.

During the 2012 Grammy Awards night last Sunday, Jennifer Hudson belted her own version of “I Will Always Love You” as a tribute to the late six-time Grammy Award singer.
