As noted at The Hollywood Reporter that day, Sony Pictures confirmed that “Sparkle“, Houston‘s supposed comeback movie, will still be shown on August 17, 2012, as produced by Stage 6 Films, a Sony label.

As noted in the report, Whitney Houston had completed filming on the project, a remake of the 1976 movie Sparkle, which is about the showbiz saga of a trio of singers and based on the career of The Supremes.

“Like all those who knew and loved her, we are shocked and saddened and the world has lost an incomparable talent. Right now our thoughts are with her daughter, her family and her friends,” Steve Elzer, the studio’s spokesman was quoted on the report.

Apparently, the said movie, which features Whitney Houston as the mother of a teen singer, portrayed by American Idol Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks, is now on its post-production, with the late singer also among its producers.

“I feel honored. I feel humbled that I’m still able to do what I do,” Whitney Houston told Shaun Robinson of Access Hollywood last November, while promoting the movie with Sparks.

“I have an 18-year-old daughter. I felt the love that the woman has for her children in the late 60s. Trying to keep her family together as a single mother.” Houston added, who found dead at her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at 3:55 p.m. (LA time) on Saturday.

“I’ve been in the industry for 30 years. There’ll be ups and there’ll be the downs. But you believe in your faith and your determination. People who encourage you to do and be the best you can.” The 6-time Grammy Award winner explained further.

The film “Sparkle” is the fourth movie of Whitney Houston, who also starred in “Waiting to Exhale”, “The Preacher’s Wife”, and the 1992 box-office hit “The Bodyguard” opposite Kevin Costner.
