Singer Whitney Houston is dead, with the cause of death not yet known as of this writing. She was 48.

According to US news sites on Saturday, February 11, 2012, Whitney Houston died as confirmed by her publicist, Kristen Foster, the night before the 2012 Grammy Awards, where she once the “Queen”.

The phrase RIP Whitney Houston immediately began to trend on Twitter as Hollywood celebrities and fans around the world reacted on her loss.

As noted in reports, the multi-Grammy Award singer was found dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at 3:55 p.m. (LA time) but has not been confirmed how she died and no other details were revealed.

Houston, who had troubles in her recent years along with her tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, rose to fame with her majestic voice on numerous songs such as “The Greatest Love Of All”, “I Always Love You”, among others.

Whitney Houston also starred in 1992 box-office hit “The Bodyguard” opposite Kevin Costner. She has one child with Bobby Brown named Bobbi Kristina, whom she was married from 1992-2007.
