White House: US President Barrack Obama meets with Apple CEO Steve Jobs

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs on Thursday confirmed that US President Barack Obama is scheduled to meet Apple CEO Steve Jobs in the afternoon.

According to various US news sites, it will be a 45-minute meeting in San Francisco that may start at about 3:30 p.m. PDT (6:30 p.m. EDT).

“They discussed American competitiveness and education, especially reforms such as the president’s Race to the Top initiative,” the Press Secretary was quoted as saying.

“They then talked about energy independence and ways to increase job creation.” Gibbs added, as he expected White House to release a minutes of the meeting later.

The two gentlemen was said to have their last meeting during the 2008 US Presidential election campaign period.

President Obama was also reported to be in San Francisco area for a political event to support the Democratic Party in the upcoming midterm congressional elections in November.
