Westlife To Split: Westlife Agreed To Disband After Final Tour

The Irish Boy band Westlife reportedly agreed to disband after their final tour next year in order for them to pursue new ventures, Westlife announced it on their official website on Wednesday, October 19, 2011.

“The decision is entirely amicable and after spending all of our adult life together so far, we want to have a well-earned break and look at new ventures. We see the greatest hits collection and the farewell tour as the perfect way to celebrate our incredible career along with our fans. We are really looking forward to getting out on the tour and seeing our fans one last time,” the group was quoted saying on their website.

Westlife have been together for 14 years and have featured 26 top ten hits and 14 British number one singles. The group was established on July 3, 1998 with members named Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan. The band has five original members but Brian McFadden left the band in 2004. The remaining members of Westlife continued the group releasing six more albums.

Westlife‘s new single “Lighthouse” was said to be released on November 13 and their second “Greatest Hits” album on November 21, 2011.
