Actor Wesley Snipes arrived on Thursday at the Federal Correctional Institution McKean in Pennsylvania, to start serving a three-year sentence for failure to file income tax returns, international reports said.

“He surrendered a short time ago and is now inside the facility,” according to Ed Ross, Federal Bureau of Prisons Spokesman.

“He’ll go through an orientation process and will begin serving his sentence,” he added.

According to reports, Snipes requested to report to prison on January 6, 2011, just after the holidays instead of Thursday. He does not want to go to prison during the holidays because he thinks it would be too disturbing to leave his family before the holidays. However, his request was denied on Monday.

Wesley Snipes is well-known for his role as Blade in the Blade trilogy. He was convicted in an Ocala, Florida court for willful failure to file tax returns from 1999 through 2001.
