As noted at Deadline on Saturday night, Universal Pictures‘ ‘Snow White and the Huntsman‘ made $20.3 million domestically on Friday, June 1, its first day of showing, in 3,773 theaters, and $21.5 million on Saturday, along with $39.3 million in 30 countries worldwide.
The said film, which stars Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart, Sam Claflin, and Chris Hemsworth, directed by Rupert Sanders reportedly did well in Latin America and Asia, including Philippines, and placed No. 1 in Mexico with $1 million on Friday.
On the other hand, ‘Men In Black 3‘, which is now on its second week, landed second this weekend and made $8.1 million last Friday, and $12 million on Saturday; while ‘The Avengers‘, which earned $178.4 million during its opening weekend last month, went on third with $5.6 million on Friday and $9.0 million on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Disney reportedly announced that ‘The Avengers‘ is now the third highest grossing film as of Friday, after making a total of $1.331 billion ($793.2 million internationally and $538.1 million domestically), surpassing ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2‘ with only $1,328 million.
Apparently, two James Cameron films still hold the leading and second-leading movie in the worldwide box office record. ‘Avatar‘, which made $2.8 billion, lands as Top 1; while ‘Titanic‘ still lands in the second place with $1.8 billion.
