Weather update issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on its 5 pm, May 22 forecast, estimates tropical storm ‘Chedeng‘ (international codename: Songda) at 1,050 km East of Northern Mindanao. PAGASA weather forecast said that typhoon Chedeng is moving with a maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.

The latest PAGASA weather forecast, based on satellite and surface data, expects typhoon Chedeng to move West Northwest at 11 kph.

PAGASA weather forecast added that Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will be having mostly cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies will be experience throughout the rest of Luzon with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

The Northern and Central part of Luzon will experience light to moderate winds coming from the East to Southeast, while winds from the Northeast to Northwest will be experience over the rest of the country.

Slight to moderate coastal waters will be experience throughout the country.

The PAGASA weather forecast is valid from 5 pm of May 22 until 5 pm of May 23, 2011.
