As noted at that day, the Walmart Shopycat app, which was introduced early November as Beta, is Walmart‘s first social-networking app and is now available at Facebook.

“Use Shopycat to discover gifts worth giving. “The right gift every time”” A statement reads at Walmart Shopycat Facebook page as its description, which has 6,000 monthly users as of this writing.

According to Tech Crunch, the Shopycat app is a product of @WalmartLabs (formerly Kosmix) which was acquired by Walmart early this year, and will join the likes of eBay’s Facebook app called Group Gifts, which was launched in November last year.

Meanwhile, the Walmart Shopycat app will use data from Facebook pages to estimate a user’s top 10 friends and will suggest suitable gifts for their friends based on their interests shared in Facebook.

As an example, if a Facebook user will post “I love Twilight!” on his wall, the Walmart Shopycat app will recommend that his friends buy him the “Breaking Dawn” Blu-Ray. Likewise, the app will do the opposite if the user will post that he hate the said movie series.

Tech Crunch also noted that a plan to bring the online store to Facebook is now underway, wherein shoppers can buy from online store without leaving Facebook.
