The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has launched a Visita Iglesia website, to enable Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and those with physical disability to join the Holy Week activities, according to a news at the CBCP official website.

The CBCP however stressed that the site should not be used to skip the liturgical activities done in parishes.

According to CBCP media director Msgr. Pedro Quitorio III, “the liturgy is a community act and being so it is most meaningfully celebrated in the context of the community or the parish.”

Reports say that the Visita Iglesia website has been one of the most visited internet sites since Monday, April 18, 2011. As of posting, the site counter already shows over 40,000 hits. Due to the heavy traffic, online users are having a hard time accessing the site.

The Visita Iglesia site was launched last April 1, 2011 and can be accessed at www.visitaiglesia.net.
