A vicious dog bites trumpeter, Efrem Towns of Dirty Dozen Brass Band, while inside an Atlanta hotel last Sunday, November 18, 2012. The trumpeter was reportedly sidelined from several scheduled performances due to the vicious dog bites.
Towns was taken to Grady Hospital in Atlanta after getting bitten by the dog. It took 30 stitches to close the dog bites in his groin.
Reports say that Towns is now recovering at his home in New Orleans, Louisiana but is still unsure if he can make it on a scheduled band performance on December 28.
Towns described himself as “very uncomfortable right now. I’m basically immobilized — it’s hard getting around. I’m kind of miserable.”
The trumpeter has already missed scheduled performances in Colorado and New Orleans according to The Times-Picayune report.
The band’s sax player Roger Lewis narrated that the dog rushed in from an open door after Towns knocked at his room.
Dirty Dozen Brass Band, a contemporary and funk-infused band, was formed in 1977 and was reportedly featured on albums with David Bowie, Elvis Costello and the Black Crowes.
As of posting, there was no report on what happened to the vicious dog.
