As reported at British news sites, Venus Williams lost from Tsvetana Pironkova and was eliminated from Wimbledon 2011, with less than two hours after her younger sister Serena lost from Marion Bartoli.

Venus, 31, a five-time Wimbledon champion, was beaten by 32nd seed Tsvetana in the two straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, incidentally the same score in last year’s Wimbledon quarter-finals, where Pironkova also won against her.

Just like Serena, 23-seed Venus also had an injury and was forced to withdraw from the 2011 Australian Open during the second game of her third round match against Andrea Petkovic of Germany.

According to reports, this is the first time since 2006 that both of the Williams sisters were eliminated from Wimbledon and did not reach the quarterfinals.
