Vancouver Climate Change Action Is Top Ranked By WWF

Vancouver‘s climate change efforts tops the rankings provided by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), according to international reports on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.

The WWF rankings are based on climate-change policy indicators that include reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and building green projects or transportation options.

The city of Vancouver garnered a final score of 8.1 points. Toronto came in second place with a score of 7.2. The maximum number of points that can be earned is 10.

Below is the complete list of cities in Canada that was included in the rankings:

  1. Vancouver, 8.1;
  2. Toronto, 7.2;
  3. Montreal, 6.2;
  4. Victoria and Saskatoon, 5.7;
  5. Edmonton and Hamilton, 5.5;
  6. Halifax and Mississauga, Ont., 5.3; and
  7. Yellowknife, 5.0.
