Valentine’s Day cards are one of the best gifts during the celebration of heart’s day but legitimate sites warned consumers of personal identity theft, February 13, 2011.

Valentine’s Day cards can come with poems, messages and funny quotes. Legitimate sites, like Hallmark and Blue Mountain, offer free online cards or paid subscriptions to costumers.

Valentine’s E-card sites warned that there are several scam sites which offer free online Valentine’s Day cards, but are only after the customer’s personal information or ATM number. Once they have obtained the information they need, then you will not hear from them anymore.

Valentine’s Day poems are also in fashion, where you simply sign up and select the card of your choice for printing.   Scam sites can also operate by providing fake profiles for those who are searching online for a Valentine’s Day date. Cyber criminals usually take advantage of Valentine’s Day to scam people out of their hard earned cash.

On the other hand, concerned environmentalists are encouraging couples to send Valentine’s Day quotes or messages through e-cards instead, so that paper production will decrease and this will be environmentally friendly.
