USA Women’s Basketball Team 2012 Beats Croatia at the London Olympics

The 2012 USA Women’s basketball team won their first London Olympic game against Croatia, 81-56, on Saturday, July 28, 2012.

Tina Charles led the American‘s women national team with 14 points. Angel McCoughtry added 13 points for team USA.

It was reportedly a sloppy opening game for the USA women olympic squad as they committed 21 turnovers. The first three quarters was a struggle for the Americans.

The Americans however, out-rebounded the Croatian team, 57-32 and were able to pull away with a 16-0 run in the fourth quarter.

Croatia was able to hang on for three quarters despite missing its first 14 shots of the game.

Jelena Ivezic scored a game-high 22 points and Marija Vrsaljko added 19 points for the Croatian women’s team.

The American team will play its second Women’s Preliminary Round game in group A against Angola on Monday, July 30. While China will be Croatia‘s next opponent.
