US President Barack Obama will guest at Discovery Channel science TV show MythBusters, as announced by the president himself, according to a post of Discovery Channel on their website.

The announcement was reportedly made by President Obama on Monday at the White House Science Fair, in which the episode will be entitled Archimedes Solar Ray.

“I’m pleased to welcome Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, known as the Myth Busters. I can announce today that I taped a special guest appearance for their show, although I didn’t get to blow anything up… I was a little frustrated about that.” The US President said.

In the said episode, President Obama is said to challenge MythBusters hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman an old controversial myth, the possibly that Archimedes had set a fire to an invading Roman fleet using only mirrors and rays of the sun.

The appearance of US President Barack Obama at MythBusters is said to be an extra effort from the White House to show that the Obama administration is very much interested in promoting math, science, and engineering.

The Archimedes Solar Ray episode, in which the US President will be a guest, is said to be aired on December 8, 2010.

MythBusters is a science TV show on Discovery Channel that tackles issues about the truth behind popular myths and legends and a mixture of information and fun, which airs every Wednesday at 9pm ET/PT.
