US President Obama supports India bid for permanent membership in UN Security Council

In his speech in front of the Indian Parliament, US President Barack Obama declares his support for India‘s bid to be a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), according to international news sites.

During his speech, President Obama was quoted that he would “look forward to a reformed UN Security Council that includes India as a permanent member”.

For many years now, India has been seeking support for its bid to get a seat at the UNSC.

President Obama earlier declared that the WashingtonDelhi relationship would be “one of the defining partnerships of the 21st century.”

The US President is currently in India to discuss trade policy with Prime Minister Singh.
