Based on studio estimates, the ‘Unknown’ movie lead the Hollywood box office this weekend, while ‘I Am Number Four’ film ranked second, according to US news sites on Sunday.

The thriller film ‘Unknown’, which stars Liam Neeson, is a story about a botanist who was awakened after a coma due to a car accident and discovered the life he thought he had has been taken away.
Apparently, ‘Unknown’, which debuted on Friday, was said to have made an estimated earnings of $6.7 million on its first day of showing in US and Canada theaters, and leading the box office with already about $21.8 million as of this writing.
Meanwhile, D.J. Caruso’s sci-fi movie ‘I Am Number Four’, which stars Alex Pettyfer, who plays as an alien refugee on Earth and developed superpowers to fight the evil invaders, ranked second with about $6.2 million on its first day and now has an estimated gross of $19.5 million.
‘Unknown’, distributed by Warner Bros., is being shown in 3,043 theaters, while DreamWorks’ ‘I Am Number Four’ is being watched in 3,154 movie houses.
Other films that earned box-office hit this weekend includes ‘Just Go With It’, starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston; ‘Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son’; and ‘Gnomeo and Juliet’.
