University of Batangas hosted the 6th NOCEI Research Forum

6th NOCEI Research Forum

The 6th Network of CALABARZON Educational Institutions (NOCEI) Research Forum was held yesterday, October 27, 2010 at the University of Batangas (UB). The 6th NOCEI Research Forum‘s theme is: “Synthesizing the Role of Research in National Development”.

Dr. Florencio V. Reyes, President of NOCEI, Inc, and Vice President for Publications, Research, Linkages and Liaison of UB gave the opening remarks. Dr. Abegayle Machelle Perez-Chua, Vice-President for Academic Affairs of UB, gave her message for everyone. The keynote speaker for the forum was Department of Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala. In his speech, Secretary Alcala put emphasis on the importance of the agricultural sector in our country. The good secretary also explained that the Philippines is importing rice from our neighboring Asian countries due to insufficient supply. However, according to Secretary Alcala, the Philippines‘ rice dependence from our Asian neighbors are just temporary since the DA is now finding ways on how to lessen the problems of the agricultural sector.

Parallel presentation of researchers were conducted in the afternoon session of the 6th NOCEI Research Forum. The researches from the CALABARZON area was divided into seven Clusters. Here is the breakdown of the researches:

  • First Cluster – Health and Medical Sciences
  • Second Cluster – Ecological Systems and Natural Resources
  • Third Cluster – Business and Economics
  • Fourth Cluster – Education
  • Fifth Cluster – Social Sciences
  • Sixth Cluster – Management Information and Technology
  • Seventh Cluster – Science and Engineering.

Faculty members of the Lyceum of the Philippines University presented their researches during the yesterday’s, 6th NOCEI Research Forum. The following are the LPU Faculty members who presented during the forum under the sixth Cluster:

  1. Noemi Almarez – Development of Automated Laboratory Inventory System for College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management of LPU
  2. Janice Velasquez – Online Practicum Monitoring System for LPU
  3. John Richard Garcia – Web-based BATSTATUE Scholarship Evaluation and Information System
  4. Jake M. Laguador – Development and Evaluation of Computer-Based Qualifying Exam for Incoming 3rd year BSME and BSECE Students of LPU
  5. Ronald L. Pancho – Performance Analysis of Information Technology Application of Cooperative Organizations in Cavite and Developing a Computer-Based Controlled Electronic Bell for Lyceum of the Philippines University-Laguna.
