Former UFC champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua won against Brandon Vera on Saturday, August 4, 2012, for the final main event of UFC on Fox 4. For the co-main event, Lyoto Machida won over Ryan Bade, as both set of fighters battling for the light heavyweight title and both matches ending via knockout.

As aired live at Fox on Saturday night, Shogun Rua beat Vera via KO in Round 4, while Machida won against Bader in Round 2, also via knockout, with both matches taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. UFC President Dana White announced after the event that there were around 16,080 people in attendance.
For the Machida vs Bader match, the 34-year old Japanese-Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter was seen dominating against the 29-year old American fighter, hitting more kicks during the first round and receiving chants from the crowd as well.
For the second round, Machida went even more aggressive and hit a perfect punch in the right jaw of Bader. He landed one more punch while on the ground and the fight was over at 1:32, where referee “Big” John McCarthy declared him as winner by knockout.
For the Shogun vs Vera fight; the 34-year old American mixed martial arts artist caught the 30-year old Brazilian fighter in the first round and took him down. Later, Rua threw a right and unleashed several left hands but Vera tied him. Both fighters were in the ground in the final minute.
For the second round, Vera went down on one knee with Rua on his back, with the crowd chanting as both fighters exchange blows and kicks and later clinched. Vera made a takedown and had his knees to Shogun‘s side on the latter part.
For Round 3, Vera caught Rua with a running knee and both fighters were on a stalemate along the fence. Rua went on fire with heavy punches but Vera also threw strong counter punches, as both warriors were seen getting tired and seemed to be catching their breath.
In Round 4, Vera hit Rua with a four-punch combo, a low kick, and a knee, but Rua continued to respond and later made a body lock with Vera along the fence. With around 90 seconds left, Rua throws a couple punches along with an uppercut, with referee Herb Dean stopping the match at 4:09.
