According to various sports news sites that day, the fight was Silva‘s revenge from his controversial loss in their first meeting in 2006.

Apparently, both fighters did not show off much during the early part of the first round as Anderson Silva seemed to find his range. At the middle of the round, they tied up against the cage but without giving momentous strikes. But at the last seconds, Anderson Silva gave a big head kick.

Silva knocked down Okami with his right hand at the beginning of the second round. He let Okami to get up only to hit with more punches and another right jab to tap Okami down again. Silva went after Okami to the ground and gave more punches until referee Herb Dean stopped the fight at 2:04 minutes of the round.

UFC official ring announcer Bruce Buffer later declared Anderson Silva as the winner, making him as the undisputed fighter in the middle weight division.

“I train hard for the best guys in the world.” Silva reported said, who also thanked his fans. “I am very happy.” He added.

As noted in the reports, Silva has now a record of 31-4 in his mixed martial arts career including his 14 straight wins.
