Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagles returns to the UAAP Finals after winning their UAAP Season 74 semi-finals game against the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers, 69-66, according to a report by today, September 15, 2011.

The Blue Eagles reportedly hold off a fierce fourth quarter rally by the Espana based Growling Tigers. They are now on their way to their 4th straight championship with head coach Norman Black.

MVP runner-up Greg Slaughter led Ateneo with 17 points, while Rookie of the Year Kiefer Ravena added 13.

UST almost caught up with Ateneo as Chris Camus, Kevin Ferrer and Jeric Teng joined hands in trimming down a 12-point fourth quarter Ateneo lead to just three points with still 1:26 left in the game. Teng later sliced the lead further to just a single point.

However, two free throws converted by Nico Salva coupled with a Jeric Fortuna missed 3-pointer at the buzzer handed the game to the Blue Eagles.

Karim Abdul led the Growling Tigers offense with 16 points.

Ateneo is the first team to enter the UAAP Season 74 Finals and will now await the winner of the semi-finals game between the Adamson University Falcons and the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws.
