U.S. Tornado in Joplin, Missouri, rises to 159 casualties

The tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri last May, 2011 increased its casualties to 159, according to several international reports on Friday, July 08, 2011.

Lynn Onstot, public information officer in the city, said in the reports that the latest victim was Janice McKee who suffered from injuries caused by this tornado.

Apparently, it was the deadliest tornado in 2011 since 1936 and ranked as the third worst on record, which damaged 6,000 homes and many other buildings in the city.

It was said that its speed was more than 200 miles per hour, which cut a six-mile swath of destruction.

Furthermore, officials expected that the damage will cost billions to repair and months to bring life to normal, according to reports.
