Typhoon Quiel: PAGASA Bagyong Quiel and Weather update as of 11 pm October 1

Manila, PhilippinesTyphoon Quiel has maintained its strength and is currently over the West Philippine Sea, with PAGASA now lowering public storm signals on some areas across Luzon.

As noted by PAGASA on its 11 pm update on Saturday, October 1, 2011, Bagyong Quiel is being estimated to be at 150 km West of Baguio City, and will move West at 26 kph.

Typhoon Quiel is being forecast to be at 690 km West of Baguio City on Sunday evening, but PAGASA continues to remind the public that Northern and Central Luzon may still feel storm surges.

As of 10 p.m. on Saturday, Bagyong Quiel was noted to have maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 185 kph.

Nevertheless, PAGASA has already removed Public Storm Signal No. 3 from any area in the country, with Metro Manila and Bulacan no longer under any Public Storm Signal warning.

According to PAGASA, five provinces are still under Public Storm Signal No. 2 which includes Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, and Zambales.

Meanwhile, Ilocos Norte, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bataan, Calayan, and Babuyan group of Islands are still Public Storm Signal No. 1.
