Tropical storm Sendong, according to the latest PAGASA weather update on its official website, has made a landfall in the Puerto Princesa City area and is now moving into the West Philippine Sea. The 5 a.m., December 18, 2011 PAGASA weather forecast indicates that tropical storm Sendong, with international codename Washi, was spotted at 60 km West Northwest of Puerto Princesa City.

According to PAGASA, tropical storm Sendong is moving with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness up to 80 kph. PAGASA forecast tropical storm Sendong to move in the Western direction at 24 kph.

PAGASA expects tropical storm Sendong to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday. Tropical storm Sendong is expected to be 580 km West of Puerto Princesa City on Monday.

Palawan is the only area under Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2. Signal no. 1 is still up in the areas of Cuyo and Coron Group of Island.

PAGASA is alerting all residents in low lying and mountainous areas against the possibility of experiencing flashfloods and landslides. Residents near oastal areas are alerted of big waves or storm surges due to the tropical storm.

About 10 to 20 mm per hour of rains is expected within the 300 km diameter of tropical storm Sendong.

PAGASA will issue its next weather bulletin at 11 a.m. today.
