Tropical Storm “Kabayan” now a typhoon, heads for Japan

Tropical StormKabayan” strengthened into a typhoon Saturday but PAGASA (Philippine AtmosphericGeophysical & Astronomical Services Administration) said that the weather disturbance would not severely affect any part of the country, as reported by local news sites, July 31, 2011.

As told by PAGASA in its 2:00 a.m. report, the eye of TyphoonKabayan” was located at 965 km. east of Casiguran, Aurora with maximum sustained winds of 175 kph. and is heading for Japan.

Related report similarly confirms that rains would continue in the western section of Luzon and the Visayas due to the southwest monsoon.

It was further revealed that PAGASA issued a warning for possible flash floods and landslides to several areas of Bataan, Zambales and Pangasinan brought about by the heavy monsoon rains.

Apparently, the rest of the country would be mostly cloudy with several rain showers and thunderstorms.
