Tropical depression Dodong has accelerated and continues to move in the North, Northwest direction, according to the latest weather update issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at 5 pm today, June 9, 2011, .

PAGASA reported that as of 4:00 pm today, tropical depression Dodong was located at 150 km West of Dagupan City while moving at 19 kph with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center.

PAGASA Severe Weather Bulletin No. 02 issued at 5 pm today, maintains public storm warning signal number 1 in the following areas:

  • Bataan
  • Pampanga
  • Tarlac
  • Zambales
  • Pangasinan

PAGASA added that tropical depression Dodong is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, that is expected to dump rains over the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon.

Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under signal number 1 are being alerted for possible flashfloods and landslides.

PAGASA will release its next bulletin at 11 pm today, June 9, 2011.
