According to a press release on his official website on Monday, February 13, 2012, Paramount Pictures announced that director Michael Bay has signed a two-picture deal with the studio.

As noted in the report, Bay will first finish ‘Pain and Gain‘ and will be followed by the ‘Transformers 4‘, which is set to be released on June 27, 2014, with ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon‘ making $1.124 billion worldwide in 2011.

Michael has been working on ‘Pain and Gain‘ for a number of years but has patiently waited for the perfect casting to trigger a start,” Adam Goodman, President of Paramount‘s Film Group, was quoted at MichaelBay.com.

“Clearly his patience has paid off as we couldn’t be more excited about this combo. His passion for this project is just awesome.” Goodman added, referring to the fourth installment of the Transformers franchise.

“We really are going to do a reboot there, and what that’s going to be we don’t even know yet. It’s a hybrid…It’s an evolution. There’s still continuity that’s going on, and yet there’ll be a lot of new cast.” Di Bonaventura told MTV in a recent interview.

“We don’t even know yet. But the characters that would certainly come along would be Optimus and Bumblebee, I’m sure.” He said, when asked about the cast members, noting that the storyline is yet to be completed.

Apparently, the ‘Transformers 4‘ movie will re-unite the filmmaking team, which includes producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy, Tom DeSanto and Ian Bryce; and executive producers Steven Spielberg, Bay, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian.
