According to Forbes that day, Tom Cruise earned $75 million between May 2011 and May 2012, making him the Hollywood’s highest paid actor, noting that his movie ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’, which was released on December 16, 2011, netted close to $700 million worldwide; wherein he had a piece from the profit.
As noted in the report, Cruise, whose Jack Reacher movie trailer was released also on Tuesday, received a good pay for his upcoming film “Oblivion” which he is currently filming in Iceland and is being expected to be shown in April 2013.
Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio, who was last year’s top earner, and comedian Adam Sandler, landed on the second spot, with Forbes noting that each star earned $37 million between May 2011 and May 2012, or nearly half as compared to the earnings of Tom Cruise.
The paper cited that DiCaprio‘s earnings dropped after his 2010 film ‘Inception’, which made $825 million worldwide; while Sandler‘s income included his earnings from 2011 film ‘Jack and Jill’, which earned $150 million despite receiving all the 10 trophies from 2012 Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies).
On the other hand, Dwayne Johnson came in fourth earning $36 million and was followed by Ben Stiller with $33 million, with Forbes noting that it considered factors such as pay, profit participation, residuals, endorsements and advertising work to compile the list, which can be found at Forbes.com.
