According to People on Friday, which was believed to be the first one to break the news, Tom Cruise‘ rep confirmed that Katie filed the divorce and that Tom, who been involved with Scientology since 1990, is “saddened and is concentrating on his three children,” requesting the public to give them privacy.
“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie‘s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.” Holmes‘s attorney Jonathan Wolfe was quoted in the report, with Tom now in Iceland filming ‘Oblivion‘ after his last film, ‘Rock of Ages’ movie.
As noted by TMZ also that day, they were told that Tom “did not see this coming” and was even spotted wearing his wedding ring just this week while shooting for his upcoming film, with Katie citing “irreconcilable differences” for the reason of divorce and filed anonymously, or without names in it.
Cruise, 49, and Holmes, 33, were married on November 2006 in Italy, with Tom previously married with actress Mimi Rogers on May 9, 1987, but divorced on February 4, 1990, and had no child. The “Mission Impossible” star married actress Nicole Kidman on December 24, 1990 but separated in February 2001.
He and Nicole adopted two children, Isabella Jane, nicknamed Bella, 19, who reportedly now has a boyfriend named Eddie Frencher, and Connor Antony, who turned 17 last January. The pair reportedly split when Kidman was three months pregnant and later, had a miscarriage.
