Tiger Woods is reportedly being set to play for the 2011 Australian Open on November 10-13, 2011 to be held at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney, Australia. The announcement was made by Golf Australia head Stephen Pitt on Monday, August 01, 2011.

Also joining the league are Americans Dustin Johnson (world no.7) and Bubba Watson (world no.13), Geoff Ogilvy (defending champion), Jason Day (world no. 8), as well as Presidents Cup captains Greg Norman and Fred Couples.

Woods, 35, suffered from leg injuries earlier which brought him down on No. 25 for the first time since January 1997 on the rankings of American Presidents Cup.

Apparently, playing in the tournament at Sydney would be Tiger Woods‘ first appearance after his being No. 5 as a professional rookie on the rankings of the 1996 Australian Open.

According to reports, he will return joining this week’s competition in WGC Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio and in US PGA Championship the following week.
