Third Man 45 iPhone cases made from real vinyl records unveiled, now for sale (Video)

Third Man Records recently teamed up with Griffin Technology to develop Third Man 45 iPhone cases made from real vinyl records, which are now for sale. A video explaining its process further is available below.

According to a press release at Griffin Technology‘s official website on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, the company collaborated with Third Man Records and launched a variety of Third Man 45 iPhone cases.

Griffin and Third Man share a love of all things musical and vinyl. Both companies call Nashville home, making collaboration between the two both accessible and natural.” A statement reads at

“The team-up has worked tirelessly to create a unique case for music lovers who want to display their love of vinyl on their iPhone.” The company added, noting that the case was designed to protect iPhones such as the latest iPhone 4S.

As noted in the report, the Third Man 45 iPhone cases incorporated a genuine 7″ vinyl record, which are now available at, are pressed by United Record Pressing in Nashville, Tennessee.

The making of the iPhone cases includes records being die-cut to create the backs of each case to mold a bumper frame that snaps around the iPhone, holding the interchangeable record insert in place and protecting the iPhone’s controls, edges and screen.

The Third Man 45 iPhone case is available in three different colors; yellow, black or white frame that includes a black vinyl record back featuring a printed label of Third Man Records, costs $29.99 each.

In addition, a packet of 3 interchangeable vinyl record inserts, inspired by Third Man Records recording artists, is also being offered individually at the said website for $19.99 each packet.
