As aired at ABS-CBN Channel 2 on Sunday night, Takeoff was voted out during the 5th X Factor Philippines elimination night, and Joan Da landed on the Bottom 2, where “Pinoy Rock” icon Joey “Pepe” Smith performed along with the remaining 8 finalists on the first part of the show.
Yesterday, Saturday, the X Factor Philippines Top 8 finalists performed (Original Pilipino Music) OPM hits, and among those who received good comments from the four judges include Gabriel Maturan, Allen Sta. Maria, Joan Da, Jeric Medina, and KZ Tandingan.
Kedebon Colim, who sang Gary Valenciano‘s “Kailangan Kita” and was told by judge-mentor Charice Pempengco not to sing that kind of song again, jumped to excitement after he was announced as the fourth finalist to be ‘safe.’ KZ Tandingan, who rendered her own version of Eraserheads‘ “Ang Huling El Bimbo” was the first one to be announced ‘safe.’
For the showdown this Sunday night, Joan Da performed first and was followed by the group Takeoff, who landed on the Bottom 2 for the third time. For the judges’ vote, Ms. Pilita Corales and Charice Pempengco picked Joan Da to stay, while Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera saved Takeoff, which was later learned that they received the lowest number of fan votes.
