The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey“, which is first of two-film treatment of Peter Jackson‘s Hobbit films adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s beloved book, will be shown in the US on December 12, 2012.

This first Hobbit epic film reprises the roles of several actors of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, also directed by Jackson, which will be followed “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” in 2013.

Among them are Andy Serkis as Gollum, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Hugo Weaving as Elrond, and Christopher Lee as Saruman.

Meanwhile, the story movie tells the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, portrayed by Martin Freeman, who was swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug.

Apparently, the 2:32- minute video Hobbit trailer starts with a scene of elderly Bilbo (portrayed by Ian Holm) explaining to Frodo that he might not have shared all there was to know about his adventures.

Later, it introduced a slew of Dwarves and Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), who began a strange foreshadowing chant that provides backing for quick clips of this new fellowship on their journey.

Afterwards, it shows brief glimpses of Galadriel and a shadowy appearance of Gollum muttering about his “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities, which is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth.
