The Book of Mormon leads the 2011 Tony Awards winners (complete list)

The musical play “The Book of Mormon” led the number of awards won during the 2011 Tony Awards night on Sunday, June 12, 2011, with the complete list of winners available below.

As aired live at CBS on Sunday, the 65th annual Tony Awards was held at the Beacon Theater in New York and was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, who also hosted the show back in 2009.

The Book of Mormon”, which had 14 nominations, won 9 awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Direction of a Musical, and Best Sound Design of a Musical.

The Book of Mormon’s Nikki M. James won the Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical award, incidentally her first ever Tony award.

Samuel L. Jackson presented gives the award for Best Play award to “War Horse“, while Robin Williams announced Best Book for a Musical award, which went to “The Book of Mormon“.

Apparently, Jerusalems’ Mark Rylance won the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play award, beating Al Pacino for his role in The Merchant of Venice.
