A $26 hot dog, named The Champion Dog, was introduced by the Texas Rangers at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Friday, March 23, 2012. The Champion dog, longer than the usual foot long hotdog, can be shared with at least three people, according to reports by several international news sites on Saturday, March 24.

The new Texas Rangers hot dogs are two-foot-long and weighs at least a pound. The Champion Dog has several toppings that include sautéed onions, shredded cheese, jalapenos and chili. The Texas Rangers will serve the hot dog together with a French fries.

The hot dog meat of The Champion Dog is reportedly being produced by Steve Peterson‘s company, Classic Foods based in Fort Worth.

Shawn Mattox, general manager of Sportservice, explained that The Champion Dog introduction is not meant “to be what one person would eat.” He added that “there will be folks out there who can handle that and that’s their business.” According to Mattox, the 2-foot-long buns will be supplied by a local bakery.
