US President Barack Obama won the 2012 US Presidential elections but Republican candidates Mitt Romney and Ted Cruz won the 2012 Texas elections on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Cruz made history by becoming the first Republican Hispanic Senator of Texas.

Romney garnered 57 percent of the votes and took the 38 electoral votes at stake for the state of Texas.

Results of the 2012 Texas elections was expected by many political observers since the Democrats have lost since the 1994 elections.

In the 2008 elections, Republican candidate John McCain also won over Obama, 56%-44%.

Cruz won a seat in the Democrat controlled Senate, by garnering 57 percent of the votes against Democrat Paul Sadler‘s 40 percent.
