Gary Neville, the former Manchester United and England defender, has been given the  go-signal to start working on his eco-friendly ‘Teletubbies’ house, according to several international news sites.

Reports said that the 36-year old captain spent more than a year struggling to win the approval of his four-bedroom property in moorland area between Bolton and Bury.

The plan for the partially underground house was first unveiled in January 2010. It was labeled as a ‘Teletubbies’ home because of its petal-shaped design.

The ‘Teletubbies’ home features the kitchen in the flower’s stigma, offshoots in the shape of a flower contains the bedrooms, bathrooms, a garage, a children’s play area and a swimming pool.

Neville‘s application was initially turned down when it went before the planning committee in June 2010. He re-submitted his application after lowering the height of its wind turbine.

The Bolton Council planning committee approved the development in March and confirmed that the permission had been ratified.
