A teenage girl jumps from the Golden Gate Bridge, and have survived after an apparent attempt to kill herself on Sunday, April 17, 2011.

According to US news sites on Monday, a 16-year old girl, whose identity was not revealed jumped from the deck of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California, and survived the fall which is approximately 220-feet tall.

As confirmed by Golden Gate Bridge spokeswoman Mary Currie to local news, the teenage girl was confirmed to have jumped off the bridge in an attempt to end her life.

Apparently, she was rescued the US Coast Guard after spending around 20 minutes in the water but still conscious and being kept alive by an identified ‘Good Samaritan’ when they arrived.

The incident was said to have taken place on Sunday, at around 10:56 a.m. (local time) and the girl was immediately rushed to Marin General Hospital for treatment.

Incidentally, reports said that a 17-year old boy named Luhe “Otter” Vilagomez also jumped from Golden Gate Bridge early last month.

The boy was was rescued by a surfer who pulled him on his board and brought him to the shore, in which the boy said that he jumped the bridge only for ‘kicks’.
