Team USA wins vs France at the 2012 London Olympics Men’s Basketball Prelim

Team USA men’s basketball overcame a slow start in the first quarter to win its preliminary game against France, 98-71, according to several London 2012 website.

Kevin Durant led Team USA with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Kevin Love added 14 points for the American team. LeBron James, who settled into passing the ball to open teammates, issued eight assists for the US team.

After leading by only one, 22-21, at the end of the first quarter, James, Durant and Bryant made consecutive three point shots to pull away from France.

Ali Traore top scored for France with 12 points while Tony Parker added 10 points.

Team USA out-rebounded France, 56-40, despite playing majority of the game without a legitimate center.

The Americans will play against Tunisia on Tuesday, July 31 while France will go up against Argentina.
