Team USA Basketball in close win vs Argentina, 86-80

The 2012 Team USA basketball won their exhibition match against Argentina, 86-80, on Sunday, July 22, 2012, according to a report at NBA.com. Sunday’s matchup was a tune-up game between the two teams leading up to the 2012 London Olympics.

Kevin Durant led Team USA with 27 points. Kobe Bryant and Lebron James added 18 and 15 points respectively.

Team USA started like a house on fire with an early 14-1 start. The Americans however, needed a late game heroics from Durant and Chris Paul to held off a late-game rally by Argentina.

A three-point play by Manu Ginobili cut Team USA‘s lead to just four points with 2:50 remaining.

Durant and Paul however, each scored a three-point shot to seal the win for Team USA.

The US basketball team is scheduled to play against Spain on Tuesday, July 24.
