Suspension of classes: No classes Friday, August 10, 2012 in Metro Manila and nearby provinces

Manila, Philippines – There are still no classes tomorrow, Friday, August 10, 2012 in most areas in Metro Manila, or National Capital Region (NCR), and nearby provinces, with the suspension of classes still due to to the heavy flood brought about by continuous rains that started a few days ago.

Most LGU (Local Government Units), schools, and universities have already declared suspension of classes for tomorrow, and have announced them in local news and on social sites such as Facebook and Twitter, along with the assistance from the official Twitter account of the Department of Education (DepEd).

As of 10:20pm, today, Thursday, August 9, 2012, the following LGUs have announced suspension of classes tomorrow, August 10 (Friday), as compiled from various official Twitter accounts including from the DepEd, which were summarized at the official Facebook page of GMA News.

(Note: The list below will be updated as soon as information becomes available)

* Metro Manila:

Caloocan: All levels
Makati: Pre-school to high school, public and private. College students may contact their respective school administrations.
Malabon: Pre-school to high school, public and private, including Malabon City University and Malabon Polytechnic Institute according to acting Mayor Lenlen Oreta
Mandaluyong: Pre-school to high school, public and private according to Mandaluyong PIO
Manila: Pre-school to high school levels in public schools. Suspension of classes in private schools is at the discretion of school administrations according to Mayor Alfredo Lim
Marikina: All levels
Muntinlupa: All levels
Navotas: All levels
ParaƱaque: All levels
Pasay: All levels
Pasig: All levels; government offices will have work
Pateros: All levels; government offices will have work
Quezon City: All levels
San Juan: All levels
Taguig: All levels; LGU offices except calamity response units
Valenzuela: Pre-school to high school, public and private, including Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela (PLV) and Valenzuela City Polytechnic College (ValPoly); College students in private universities and colleges should consult their respective school administrator.

Region 3:

Balagtas, Bulacan: All levels
Calumpit, Bulacan: All levels
Hagonoy, Bulacan: All levels
Malolos, Bulacan: Kinder to high school
Paombong, Bulacan: All levels
Plaridel, Bulacan: All levels
Pulilan, Bulacan: All levels
San Ildefonso, Bulacan: All levels
San Jose Del Monte City: all levels
Angeles City: All levels
Pampanga: All levels

Region 4:

Laguna: All levels
Cainta, Rizal: Pre-school to high school, public and private
Jalajala, Rizal: Pre-school to high school, public and private
Montalban, Rizal: Pre-school to high school, public and private
San Mateo, Rizal: Pre-school to high school, public and private
Tanay, Rizal: Pre-school to high school, public and private
Taytay, Rizal: Pre-school to high school, public and private

Schools:

Adamson University: All levels suspended. Regular classes resume on Monday, August 13. Regular office work resumes tomorrow, August 10.

Ateneo De Manila University: No classes in GS, AHS, LS, ASMPH, AGSB, and ASOG. Ateneo Law School will resume classes tomorrow, August 10.

Centro Escolar University: Classes suspended, but office work resumes

Colegio de San Juan de Letran: All levels and office work suspended. Regular classes and office work will resume on Monday, August 13.

De La Salle University (Taft, Makati, Ortigas): Classes suspended. Classes will resume on August 13.

Far Eastern University (Manila, Makati, East Asia College, Diliman, Cavite): classes and offices cancelled according to Dr. Lydia Echauz, President

Headway School for Giftedness: classes suspended according to Amos Manlangit, Principal

Miriam College: All levels suspended. Office work will resume on August 10 except for employees affected by floods. Classes and work resume for those with Saturday (August 11) schedule.

National Teacher’s College, Quiapo, Manila: All levels according to Maria Elma Cordero, Chair, Student Affairs

Philippine College of Criminology: No classes and office work until Saturday (August 11).

Philippine Women’s University (JASMS-Manila and QC campuses, PWUU High School Manila): Classes suspended. Classes resume on Monday, August 13 according to Marivic Tirona, Office of the President

San Beda College (Manila and Rizal): No classes tomorrow (August 10) and Saturday (August 11). Classes will resume on Monday (August 13). Office work resume tomorrow, August 10.

St. Paul College, Quezon City: All levels suspended until Saturday, August 11. Work will resume August 10 except for those affected by the flood

University of the East (Manila and Caloocan): All levels

University of the Philippines Integrated School: Classes will resume on August 13.

University of Santo Tomas: Classes will resume on Monday, August 13, 2012 according to the Office of the Secretary General | via @USTCSC1213 and Associate Professor Giovanna Villarama Fontanilla, Director of the UST Office of Public Affairs

St. Amatiel Technological Institute (all branches): classes suspended according to Pepito Trumata, President

University of Assumption Pampanga: Classes and work suspended until Saturday, August 11 according to Mr. Fer Santos, Director for External Affairs
